System Requirements re: PhotoShop

This software operates in a high-resolution environment and requires a computer that has sufficient RAM and processing speed to accommodate large image files.

You will need a fully operational version Adobe's Photoshop loaded on your computer, otherwise all imaging functions such as importing and exporting will not operate within You Select it software. Trial versions of Photoshop do not include scripting support and will not work with You Select It.

Please note: Pirated or Beta versions of Photoshop could possibly introduce errors and You Select it will not offer any technical support or refunds, if this type of software is used in conjunction with our program.

Recommended computer hardware requirements
- CPU: Pentium 4, 750 (or equivalent), PowerPC (750 MHz)
- Dual processor
- Operating Systems: Windows 98, 2000, XP, Vista (32 bit), Windows 7 - Mac OSX
- Ram: 512 MB
- Hard Drive: 200Mb Available Hard Disk Space
- Video: SVGA at 1024 x 768, 16 Bit Colour

Other Software Requirements: - Mac/PC: Photoshop, Photoshop Scripting Support - Mac: Apple script Support

Scripting Support And Photoshop

- Photoshop 4,5,6 - Not Supported
- Photoshop Trial - Not Supported
- Photoshop 7+ - Supported
- Photoshop CS, CS2, CS3, CS4, CS5 - included within the software and does not require Adobe scripting download.

To check if you have a valid version of scripting support open Photoshop and go to: Photoshop>Help>About Plug in>Scripts

1. If you get an error message: "Could not complete the scripts command because this version of Photoshop does not supply the services required by this plug in module." Then your version of Photoshop does not support scripting.

2. If the Scripts plug in is not present download the Trial Version of You Select It, which has the latest Photoshop Scripting Support, included. Alternatively go to the Adobe website and download and install the latest version of Adobe Scripting Support.

Download Photoshop 7.0 Scripting plug-in from Adobe:

The program's compressed size is approximately 45mb and we recommend that you close all other Browsers, set your Spam and Firewall ( if installed )permission settings to accept connection between our Servers. If you require further assitance regarding these settings, please contact your ISP provider. Also, if you are using AOL, please contact them before download the program, as they are currently blocking some mail from outside your country's boundries. Issues with Importing images into YSI and High-Resolution outputs

YSI has been designed to work in conjuction with the latest versions of PhotoShop. The software utilizes PhotoShop's Scripting Support to create actions that copy and compresses your images into YSI. The same tools are then re-activated to build a High-Rez. copy of your Finished Layouts, using the original images from your hard drive. All image re-sizing and page layouts are built and saved within PhotoShop. You may have the option to either export any finished layout directly into PS as an un-flattened PSD File, or save as any other file format, through our Individual or Batching Facility.

Importing or Output problems:
Due to so many differnt types of computers, operating systems and affiliated programs, you may experience some problems with importing your images or saving finished layouts as high-rez. files. Generally, most of these are either related to your memory cache, Adobe's scripting file, Virus/Worms or missing DLL files.

Below is a list of common problems and advice on how to resolve the issue.

My Images won't import into YSI:
If you are using PS 7, the adobe scripting file link may be broken. Go to My Computer / Control Panel / Add & Remove Programs ( Mac users: Applications folder / Adobe / Adobe Plug-ins folder / Adobe Scripting File ). Locate and delete the Adobe scripting file, then re-start your computer. Locate the YSI download file ( PC =.exe MAC = .sit ) and re-install the software. Ensure to say YES, when you are requested to install the scripting folder and any previous YSI jobs. However, we do recommend that you back-up all your your jobs and templates before re-installing YSI. Please refer this link to back-up and restore your work http://www.youselectit.com/content/backupInstructions.pdf

I've just upgraded to PhotoShop CS, CS2 ,CS3, CS4 and CS5 and the software keeps requesting for the Scripting File or PhotoShop will not open.

Ensure to adjust your management settings, right-click on YSI icon / properties / compatibility, tick  "run this program as an administrator"
If you still have PhotoShop 7 loaded on your computer, YSI may still be referring to it's Scripting File. As described above, remove the old Scripting File (as the scipting file is now packaged within CS, CS2, CS3, CS4, CS5) and if PhotoShop 7 is no longer required, also delete this version.
Please remember to Re-Boot your computer after you have remove the file and PS 7.
If your images still will not import, we suggest that you remove and re-install PhotoShop and YSI. As this will restore any missing DLL files.

Please note: If you remove some programs that share the same DLL files as PhotoShop, it will effect the software's performance. This is mostly common with ShareWare programs and we recomend that you say No, if requested to remove these files.
Also, a virus or worm can effect your directory files and change their files attributes. Please ensure to run a virus check to detected and removed any virus or worms. Once completed, you will need to re-install both PhotoShop and YSI.

My images stop importing after a few minutes.
There may be a few resons why this may be happening.
1: A naming issue with one of your image files, as it may have the wrong extension type.
2: The file may be corrput or is truncated.
3: You are importng very large image files and your computer's Memory Cache is full. We suggest that you re-group your image files into smaller sub-groups, clear the orignal job and re-boot your computer. Create a new job and re-import each folder seperatley.
4: If you are using PhotoShop 7, the scripting file may have broken during the importing function and will need to be restored ( please see above )

My Finished Layouts will not export into Photoshop or have stopped during the Batch Facility.
1: If you are using PhotoShop 7, the scripting file may have broken during the exporting function and will need to be restored ( please see above )
2: Depending on your computer's processor, you may find that your memory cache is full, due to processing a large amount of Finished Layouts at the same time. Understanding that this may vary between computers and to help refresh the cache, YSI automatically closes and re-opens PhotoShop after every 10 pages and continues the process until all pages are finished. However, if PhotoShop won't re-open or the batch process stops, it is usually related to a broken scripting file link ( see above ) or you may have removed another program that has affected the DLL files. Generally, it is best to stop the process, close YSI and then re-install PhotoShop.
3: Do not use the following symbols when naming a Finished Layout: [ / _ - *]. Copy the orginal layout and re-name it without any of the symbols listed above ( e.g. Side 001a ). Once completed, just delete the orginal layout.
4: Go to program's Preferences / PhotoShop and edit the options included within this section:
A: Path to PhotoShop= Ensure that the path is directed to the version of PhotoShop that you're currently using.
B: PhotoShop Launch Delay = Increase the delay time to open PhotoShop if you have an large amount of Plug-ins installed.
C: Batch Re-Start = Increase or decrease the amount of finished layouts to be batched.

If you are still experiencing problems, contact us at support@youselectit.com . Please ensure to forward us as much information regarding your issue, so we can determine and resolve your problem as quickly as possible.

CS4 and only PC versions of CS5 - 32 bit Versions

Hi,
YSI is compatible with 32 bit versions of CS4 & PC versions of CS5 and it will automatically associate the path between both applications, if you already have an earlier of Photoshop installed within your system. However, if you receive the following message when you open YSI “Please locate the folder of Photoshop 7 or greater”,
please apply the following instructions to clear the message and path CS4 or CS5 to YSI:

  1. Double click onto the YSI icon to open the application.
  2. Whist the app is opening, hold down your keyboard Control Key and the L key at the same time.
  3. A following will appear “Please locate the folder of Photoshop 7 or greater”
  4. Press OK button and from here select Photoshop CS4 or CS5 from your hard drive (PC: Programs Files  MAC: Applications Folder)
  5. Press OK and YSI will now open.
  6. However, if you cannot select CS4or CS5 (i.e.: if the program is faded out), totally remove YSI and re-install again, then re-apply the instructions once again.
But, if you’re still getting the “Unable to Locate Photoshop” message after you start YSI, close YSI and open Photoshop first, then re-open YSI and this will clear the message.

Regards
Martin

CS5 MAC 32 Bit Operating System - YSI

YSI is not compatible with MAC CS5 32 Bit version. This is due to Adobe not supplying a scripting link to open a bridge between CS5 and MAC operating systems.
